Applying to Clemson

Applications for Admission
The Graduate School has two online application forms: Degree Seeking and Non Degree Seeking.

Degree Seeking
Students wishing to pursue a graduate degree at Clemson University should apply for admission using the Degree Seeking application for admission.  This includes all applicants seeking a Masters, Doctoral, or any professional degree.

In general, degree seeking applications should be received no later than 5 weeks prior to the first day of class.  However, some programs have earlier deadlines.  Degree seeking applicants are encouraged to contact the program coordinator for specific program application deadlines and further support materials.

Non-Degree Seeking
Admission to the Non Degree category is restricted primarily to those who may benefit professionally from additional study at the graduate level.  For example, current primary, middle grades and secondary education teachers wising to gain recertification most commonly apply as Non-Degree Seeking students.  Regardless of the student’s reason for applying non-degree, in all cases the non-degree student must receive permission from the program coordinator or the department chair before enrolling in any graduate course.

Please note that if you have been previously enrolled at Clemson anytime in the past six years as a Non-Degree Student in the same area you wish to apply to, then you do NOT need to complete this application. Rather, please complete the Graduate Application for Re-Entrance.

Getting Started
The FIRST step in the process of submitting an online application is to create a user account. Clemson’s application is hosted by CollegeNet and you will be entering your information on their secure server. You will be asked to create a user ID and password. You do not need to complete the entire application at one sitting. You may begin the application, save it, and return to it at a later time using your user id and password.  Be sure to retain this information since this is what you will use to login to access your application.

Manage Your Account
Once you have created your user ID and password, CollegeNet allows you to complete portions of the application, save the work and then return at a later time to complete and submit the application.  Please note that until you actually submit the application and pay the application fee, no portion of your application is transmitted to The Graduate School.  For example, even if you complete the required fields for the letters of recommendation, no notification is forwarded to your recommenders soliciting a recommendation on your behalf until you complete and submit the application including payment of the application fee or use of an approved application fee waiver.   Please see below for links to access your application, review your activity and change your password.
