The Clemson Animal Welfare Society

"Making a difference, one animal at a time"

The Clemson Animal Welfare Society (CAWS) is dedicated to promoting animal welfare. Their main objectives consist of educating the Clemson campus and community about pet overpopulation, the importance of spaying and neutering pets, adopting animals at shelters, and proper pet care treatment. Currently, CAWS is looking for members interested in Political Science to work on enacting mandatory spay/neuter laws and animal cruelty prevention ordinances, as well as those members who would be interested in marketing, fundraising, or planning social events.

The annual Adopt-a-thon will take place April 12. Each spring, over 50 homeless dogs and cats from local animal shelters and rescue groups are brought to Bowman Field to find new homes. CAWS has had great success in the past with a 90% adoption rate at the end of the adopt-a-thon. Members also volunteer at local animal shelters on a regular basis and volunteer with animal adoption days at PetSmart.

Graduate students can join at any time by sending an email to caws@clemson.edu. You will be added to their email list and be updated on meetings and upcoming events. Meetings are Tuesday evenings at 8:00.
