Graduate School Financial Assistance Applications (GSFA)

There are three types of financial assistance available for all graduate students: assistantships, fellowships, and traineeships. The Master of Real Estate Development and the Master of Historic Preservation have Research Analyst positions available for service to the program. Tuition reduction is not allowed under these differential tuition programs. In addition, loans are available for U.S. and permanent residents. Assistantships and research analyst positions are taxable as income for services rendered but carry a reduction in academic fees. Fellowships and traineeships require no service to the University; however, they do not carry a reduction in academic fees. The amount of the fellowship in excess of academic costs is considered taxable income. These types of assistance may be held concurrently.

Offers of financial assistance by Clemson University after April 15 of a given year are contingent on the applicant's supplying written notice that he or she has secured written release from any commitments to accept offers made by other graduate schools prior to that date. Likewise, a commitment to Clemson University left in force after April 15 is to be honored unless written release is secured from the department making the offer.

Although full biographical information is requested in the application for admission to the Graduate School, the modest repeat requested here is necessary because this information may be received by the department prior to the review of the admission application.

Loan applications for US & Permanent Residents only are available from the Office of Student Financial Aid.
