Juran Center for Leadership in Quality in the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Hua-Hung will receive $2,500 to support a research paper that would lead to a dissertation.

The highly competitive Juran Doctoral Awards are provided to encourage doctoral students to stimulate their thinking about quality principles early in their PhD careers. A diverse panel of judges comprised of faculty members from leading research universities and distinguished practitioners is assembled to review the applications each year.

Dr. Aleda Roth, Burlington Industries Professor of Supply Chain Management, and Dr. Janis Miller, Associate Professor of Management are serving as academic advisors to Hua-Hung. According to Roth, "Hua-Hung has the potential to be a top notch scholar. By interacting with him over the past year, I have found that he brings a fresh perspective and insight to many operational problems-especially in service operations and quality.

"Hua-Hung's topic of examining the nature and quality of Internet enabled, business-to-business (B2B) customer feedback systems is quite novel. Given the significant rise in B2B investments by most firms, it is clearly important for practice. Hua-Hung's rigorous investigation of B2B feedback metrics will incorporate a behavioral science lens; and therefore, in my opinion, the papers and dissertation that will build on it will certainly influence thought leadership as supply chain business partners interact."

Hua-Hung says "not only will the monetary value of the award support me to conduct future survey research (my proposed research method), but it also provides me a clear direction toward my final dissertation."
