Architecture

MArch

Major emphasis in the Master of Architecture is on design, accompanied by complementary coursework of a professional focus, as well as elective subjects. Complex studio design projects stress social awareness and contextual fit and are responsive to all aspects of the architectural process.

The most up-to-date version of our graduate catalogue is to be found on the School of Architecture web page. If you do not have an undergraduate degree in architecture, then the program is three years (93 credits) with a summer session requirement in advance of the first year. If you are an architectural undergraduate you would be eligible for one year advanced standing in the three year curriculum, in other words, it would take two years and require 60 credits.

MS

The Master of Science degree in Architecture offers the opportunity to achieve advanced learning within the discipline of architecture and to undertake research responsive to increasingly complex challenges attendant to the built environment. This is accomplished through a foundation of coursework, accompanied by directed studies within a selected area, and followed by the critical examination of a singular aspect of architecture in a research thesis.

To qualify for this program, applicants must have an undergraduate degree. Joint degrees with the MArch are possible.

PhD

Concentrations in Architecture and Health, Intelligent Materials and
Systems, and Community Design/Build are offered. See the School of Architecture web site.
