MA
The Department of English offers an interdisciplinary Master of Arts degree in Professional Communication (MAPC). The program combines work in theory and research with a comprehensive emphasis on written, oral, and visual communication. Through coursework, close interactions with the faculty, and client-based projects, MAPC students learn theories, research methodologies, and practices of professional communication. Students have the flexibility to structure their studies to focus on areas such as marketing, writing, usability training, and teaching. Students come from a wide range of academic backgrounds. Most MAPC graduates become website designers, technical writers, teachers, trainers, or public relations professionals. Some students chose to continue their graduate work and pursue a PhD.
Certificate
A certificate in Health Communication is also offered to students in the MAPC program or to health professionals who wish to expand their communication skills.
